The origin story is less Silicon Valley and more kitchen table. We wanted a battery that did not cost as much as the dish. As a father, I also wanted my 13 and 14-year-old off Roblox and aimed at something that might eventually pay for itself in useful life skills.

After six months of fatherly mentoring and motivational speaking—which is a polite term for harassment and nagging—the youngest taught himself CAD and 3D printing, and the oldest taught himself basic PCB design. Six months after that, we had two working designs.
